September 2025 — Blaze Junior Badminton Club is officially launching! After coaching together for several years, Richard Cooper and Angelina Tulett are realising their dream of running their own Badminton England affiliated club in Ashford. We are very excited to grow grassroots badminton in the local area.
October 2025 — With the first tournament of the season just around the corner, we are hosting our very first internal club competition. Many of our players are beginners, so this is a fantastic opportunity for them to experience competitive play in a friendly environment. The day is full of brilliant rallies and big smiles! November 2025 — We are incredibly proud to see so many of our young players competing at the North Forlands competition. It was a fantastic day with some outstanding performances and plenty of medals! North Forlands Squad
January 2026 — Four of our members are competing in their very first Badminton England event at the Kent Futures in Gillingham. Huge respect to Ameer and Nirvan for stepping up in both singles and doubles in the strong U18 category — especially Nirvan who only started playing in September. Special congratulations to Leona who has just won Gold in the U12 Singles! Leona Gold
February 2026 — We entered our first Falcons cup tournament, competing against the other main junior clubs in Kent. A lot of very hard and competitive games and a really good performance from our players. Falcons Cup
February 2026 — Was Gracies birthday. She asked for a Blaze Badminton Birthday themed party. We booked a village Hall and did badminton party games with some of the club members to celebrate. Was a fantastic day out and great to see kids enjoying badminton in this unique way. Gracie Party
March 2026 — Leona is competing in her first Bronze-level tournament in Gillingham. She and her partner put in a fantastic performance and won the Bronze medal. They narrowly missed out on the silver medal after losing 23-21 to the pair that won the overall competition. This pair saved 2 match points and it was an incredibly impressive game. Leona Bronze
April 2026 — Three of our players are competing at the Kent Futures. Massive well done to Bertie for battling hard in the Boys U14 category, and huge congratulations to Gracie and Leona who win Silver in the Girls U14 Doubles! Gracie also managed a bronze in the u14 singles against very tough opposition. She almost went out in the Group stage, as she was losing 14 - 6, but she pulled off a remarkable comeback to win the game 21 - 19. Leona was in the u12 for singles and came away with a silver medal. April 2026 — Big congratulations to Kingsley Chan for completing his Level 1 Coaching course! Kingsley is a very strong player who received intense badminton coaching himself in Hong Kong. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Blaze coaching team.
May 2026 — Leona is shining again at her second Bronze tournament in Essex, winning Gold in the consolation singles. Her singles game has improved massively! Leona Essex Gold
June 2026 — Great news! We are launching an extra training session at Highworth Grammar School for the first three Fridays in July (5:30pm – 6:30pm). This session will return in September for the new season. We have also been approved for an additional Wednesday evening session at Norton Knatchbull School (7:00pm – 8:00pm) starting in September. More training opportunities are coming — get in touch if you’d like your child to join us!
June 2026 — Well played to Leona and Riona who clinched a silver medal in the U11 Bronze tournament in Milton Keynes. Agonisingly close to beating the 1st seeds and taking Gold. Hoping these 2 get another opportunity to play with each other in 4 months time. Leona and Riona Silver Medal
July 2026 — We were very proud that 7 of our members played their first Badminton England competition at the Kent Futures. Many of them were beginners but played with a lot of heart. We were proud to see so much support for each other and all of them raised their game. It was a great learning experience and I hope to see them back competing at the next futures tournament. The u14 girls doubles had 20 pairs and Gracie was able to win her first futures gold in this competition. Leona teamed up with her friend from another club to take gold in the u12 doubles. She secured a bronze in a hard fought u12 girls singles semi-final.
